Fashion faces feature ...

Barbara Lotter is a young entrepreneur who saw a gap in the female fashion market in Cape Town and has filled it quite successfully. Barbara imports vintage dresses that are hand picked, she alters them and then sells them at an affordable price to the local market. Barbara has recently opened a store in Church Street between Long and Loop Street.

What influences you the most in terms your style and the way in which you dress?
‘The way I dress everyday has a lot to do with my mood, girly one day and tomboy the next. I always try to add an edge. Comfort is key. It doesn’t help you looking stylish if you cant even walk. Obviously the weather plays a big part to. Cape Town makes this hard sometimes!
Who do you feel is the most prevalent style icon?
‘I love Alexa Chung, she always looks amazing. Makes a statement but never going overboard.’
What, in your opinion, is the definition of style?
‘”Fashions fade style is eternal” – Yves Saint Laurent I don’t think it can be said any better then that.’
Your top five essential fashion items?
’1. Ankle boots
2. a Good watch
3 .Beautiful summer frock (from Babette :) )
4 . Round sunglasses
5. High waist shorts (denim or Vintage)’
The worst trend you have ever subscribed to?
‘Lycra floral bell-bottoms, dont know if that was ever a trend though,  but my mom made them for me.’
